Jennifer D. King
Jennifer D. King was born in Florida and raised in New Jersey. She has been a resident of Oakland for the past forty-five years. She earned a B.A. in English, and holds a Masters in English from Mills College. Jennifer teaches writing at the Allen Temple Leadership Institute. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the College of Alameda where she has taught Composition and Literature classes. In 2020, Jennifer retired as the Director of the Downtown Oakland Senior Center. She has edited nine anthologies of creative writing, and published two books of her own poetry and short stories, and a children’s coloring book. Her essays and creative writings have appeared in numerous publications both locally and nationally. Jennifer has also written Christian Education essays for Urban Ministries (UMI) for more than fourteen years. Jennifer is the very proud mother of one daughter, Lauren Justine.
